ROPE is the largest Indian direct manufacturer and exporter of handmade wicker baskets, hand woven placemats, runners, straw bags and related Home and Lifestyle products. ROPE produces over a million handmade pieces every year and engages over a thousand artisans and workers across value chains in multiple product categories.

ROPE manufacturing units are fully compliant with international standards and are audited and approved by independent agencies and global retailers.

ROPE is passionate about taking traditional artisan skills to global markets. We love that each and every ROPE product is made with the smile and care of happy artisans, 95% of whom are women.

ROPE Enterprises Pvt Ltd is located near the temple city of Madurai in southern India, close to the Tuticorin harbour which allows efficient exports. ROPE has been manufacturing and exporting Home Textiles, Home Décor, Home Storage and Home Organizer products from India since 2008.

Inspired by our artisan skills, the founding team of ROPE wants to integrate Handmade in India with global markets and create sustainable employment in Creative Manufacturing. ROPE was incubated at IIT Madras, India’s premier technology and research institute, as a model to enable the country’s crafts to meet global demands through new product development, effective use of IT based tools, professional management, well organized supply chains and adherence to social and quality compliance norms.
