ROPE pioneered distributed manufacturing for high volume handmade production using a formal Hub and Spoke model facilitated by ICT (Information and Communication Technologies). This model helps ROPE ensure high delivery standards while meeting the quantity needs of each buyer and sustainable employment for our artisan workers.
Over time the ROPE hub has become an established and compliant manufacturing centre while also being a central aggregation and delivery point for the spokes. ROPE’s manufacturing hub in Madurai, Tamilnadu is situated on a six-acre green campus with all the infrastructure required for handwork production: pre and postproduction processes such as lacquer coating, drying and heat treatment; safe storage of raw materials and finished products; quality checking; packaging and container loading.
At the core of our manufacturing are the traditional and timeless handwork skills, like handloom weaving and basket weaving, which we do in-house in all our manufacturing centres. ROPE artisans are highly skilled and are continuously trained in new products and innovative new designs. Each of them is trained in multiple skills and production is organised in assembly lines to achieve the best productivity and quality.
